New Orleans Landscape Architect Transforms Irish Channel Residence with Charleston-Inspired Elegance
Magnolia Landscape Architecture transformed an Irish Channel residence with a Charleston-inspired entrance, enhancing aesthetics and functionality. This redesign features new brick steps, iron rails, stylish double doors, remote entry, built-in mailbox, and privacy wall; all designed to elevate the home's security and aesthetics. Prior to the transformation, the area was obstructed by an above-ground planter and shutters, as depicted in the before image at the bottom right. The masonry wall was added to close off the courtyard and parking area that were previously open to the street, ensuring privacy and security.
Our design features a New Orleans-made Bevolo lantern and landscape lighting to accent the architecture and plant material. Inspired by St. Mary’s Assumption Church, the masonry work aligns with the architectural heritage of New Orleans. The space now serves as both a charming retreat and secure off-street parking when needed. Detailed masonry work on the columns, fountain, and wall were made possible from the construction documents provided by our Landscape Architect. The privacy wall is adorned with intricate brick patterns and lush greenery, creating a captivating visual centerpiece.
